GETTING THERE
After a 3 to 4 hours direct flight from New Delhi or Mumbai you will land in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. The airport is called Bandaranaike International Airport, also known as the Colombo International Airport.
VISAS FOR INDIANS
As an Indian passport holder, you will need to apply for an online visa before travelling to Sri Lanka. An ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) allows you to enter the country for 30 days. However, this can be extended up to 6 months.
WEATHER-WISE
The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends on which part of the country you’re visiting. In general, September - April are considered the best times to visit. Overall the temperatures in Sri Lanka remain fairly even all through the year, ranging from 28 to 34 degrees.

Getting Married in Sri Lanka
Legal Requirements & Documentation
You are required to produce the following documents to the Divisional/District Registrar of the area where your marriage would take place:
1. Valid passports of the couple planning to get married,
2. Original birth certificates of the couple planning to get married,
3. Unmarried certificate / Free to Marry Certificate: An affidavit / statutory declaration signed by a solicitor to confirm who you are and your present status (unmarried / free to marry). Separate affidavits for the period of time lived in different countries which are certified / legalised by respective Foreign Office & Sri Lankan Mission accredited to that country,
4. Valid visa to travel to Sri Lanka (tourist visa),
All documents must be in English in case of foreign nationals. Once you are married in Sri Lanka, you must get your marriage certificate certified by the Consular Affairs Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo; if the certificate issued in Sinhalese / Tamil language you may obtain official English translation and get the same certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Your marriage certificate will be accepted outside Sri Lanka only if it is legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.

SIGIRIYA
The rock fortress of Sigiriya is possibly one of the most impressive sights in Sri Lanka. Climb to the top of this UNESCO World Heritage site to admire the breath-taking view, ancient ruins, lakes and structures on this uniquely shaped rock.
BENTOTA
Located 65 kms. south of Colombo, Bentota is a haven for scuba divers and snorkelers. The town features many quality dive centres. Other watersports options like wind surfing, canoeing, jet skiing, surfing, etc are also aplenty. There's also the opportunity to go dolphin and whale watching.
GALLE & WELIGAMA
Located 125 kms. south of Colombo, Galle (pronounced Gawl) is Sri Lanka's main port. The city was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century.
About 35 kms. from Galle is the fishing village of Weligama. The fishermen here use a unique style of fishing perched atop stilts. This is the only place in the world to experience this.
